When comparing fractions
Which one is the larger?
When comparing fractions
Which one has more value?
You cross multiply
Cross multiply
The greater fraction has the greater cross product
When comparing fractions
Which one is the larger?
When comparing fractions
Which one has more value?
You cross multiply
Cross multiply
The greater fraction has the greater cross product.
Here’s how to do it:
When you cross-multiply, the result lands on the same side as the number on top, or the numerator.
So let’s take for example ¾ and 5/8ths.
Cross-multiply by multiplying the 4 by 5 to get 20.
Cross-multiply the 8 by 3 to get 24.
Since 24 is larger than 20, the greater fraction is ¾. It works for all positive fractions.
Do others like 5/7 and 11/15. Compare 2/3 with 5/8. Compare ½ with 3/8.
Do others until you understand it completely.
