The Gingerbread Girl Rap
Jim Rule

  Listen to this rap.

This rap is available on Jim Rule's Let It Shine!

Now everybody knows about The Gingerbread Man
The silly cookie saying, “I can run. I can!”
Well, the sly fox ate him. It’s probably just as well.
But here’s another version of the story we can tell.
We’re takin’ an old fairy tale. Give it a new whirl!
And now we have the story of the GINGERBREAD GIRL.

One more thing. We’re changing the location.
A whole other continent. A whole other nation.
Makes ya stop and think. It makes ya kinda wonder
What would happen to a GINGERBREAD GIRL down under?
Here’s a story that will never fail ya -
We’re bakin’ a girl of gingerbread and takin’ her to... Australia!

Well, it took some time to get here but it didn’t really daunt us......

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

She ran right out the airport and out into the bush.
She was really flyin’. No, she didn’t need a push.......

She said, “Goodbye, it was really nice to meet you......."

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

She met a pack of wild dogs. The name wasn’t Bingo!
Down under in Australia they are known as dingo.......

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

She ran to the shade of the koolabah tree,......

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

She ran so fast that she almost flew,
and the next one she met was a mama kangaroo.......

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

She ran “til she came to the edge of a billabong.......

Platypus said, “G’day, Mate.” She just said, “Oh, no!......”

Then she saw the others coming and knew she had to hurry.......

She went up and came down and landed right in his mouth......

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”

Now the moral of the story isn’t very hard to guess.
It really doesn’t matter how you look or how you dress,
And even if you might be made of sugar and spice,
No matter who you’re talking to, remember to be nice.

“Run, run, run all around the world!
You can’t catch me. I’m The Gingerbread Girl!”
