I’m walkin,’ wadin’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world,
Takin’ every opportunity to listen, look and learn.
I climb up a mountain and I run to the sea,
I search in a field or in my backyard tree.
So I’m a walkin,’ wadin’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world.
I took a hike to a nearby creek with my old sneakers on.
I made a scooper from an old milk jug.
Catchin’ minnows and some water bugs,
Turning over stones with my fingers and toes, watching crayfish shuttle and swim,
Caddisfly cases and freshwater clams all nestled in the riverbed sand.
I’m walkin,’ wadin’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world,
Takin’ every opportunity to listen, look and learn.
I climb up a mountain and I run to the sea
I search in a field or in my backyard tree.
So I’m walkin’, wadin,’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world.
Wanderin’ around on a hot summer’s day, into the woods I went.
Lookin’ for some signs from the previous night.
Footprints or dung from some wildlife
I found some tracks from deer, possum and coon and diggin’ from a hungry skunk.
There are signs of nibbling rabbits and humans’ bad habits, all to observe that day.
This life is full of mysteries and excitement at every turn.
There are habitats and niches in the deserts and the ditches
There for me to learn.
Instrumental
Lying on my back in a tall grass field, listen to the wind whistle by.
I watch the grass swayin’ and I find myself prayin’ for some wings to fly real high.
I would rise upon a thermal like some raptors do, floating on a current of air.
I’d get a better view of the places I’d go and chart my course from way up there.
I’m walkin,, wadin’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world,
Takin’ every opportunity to listen, look, and learn.
I climb up a mountain and I run to the sea.
I search in a field or in my backyard tree.
So I’m a walkin,’ wadin’ and wanderin’ across this wonderful world!
