Keep this jukebox handy for when you need a song or chant.
What? A small box
Glue
Construction paper
Markers
Index cards
How? - Cover the box with construction paper.
- Decorate with musical notes and write "Jukebox" on it. You may want to cut a slot on the side of the box for "quarters."
- Write the titles of songs, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,"
or "If You're Happy and You Know It" on each index card.
- Place the cards in the box.
- Whenever you have a few extra minutes, "spin a tune" on the jukebox.
- Hand a child a pretend quarter. Instruct him to put it in the box and pull out a song.
- The class then sings that song.
What Else?
You can continue giving children "quarters" and singing the songs they select as long as they are interested.
Cut paper in the shape of CDs and write the titles of songs on them.
Make a similar activity using nursery rhymes.
Make copies of the songs in this book and use them in the jukebox.
